HYDROPHOBIC
DOWN

Moisture is an old problem for down users. Standard down soaks up with water, becomes heavy and loses its thermal properties. Fortunately, it dries easily and regains its parameters. Hydrophobic down helps to deal with this problem. Our offer includes hydrophobic, polish goose down with the fill power of 800 cuin. Its use also has some cons we want to tell you about.

REPELLING
MOISTURE

Hydrophobic down is impregnated in water-repellent compounds. As a result, even when exposed to water, it remains dry for a long time. It is a great solution for anyone who wants to use down in damp conditions - sleeping in positive temperatures under the open sky, in negative temperatures in a tent or staying warm during rainy days. Furthermore it works great in a classic down sweater under your hardshell. The very good breathability of down and fabrics used in down clothing means that the moisture we generate is effectively transported to the outside. However, heavy membranes may cause a problem. As a result, moisture collects between the second and third layer of clothing and soaks into the down jacket, a hydrophobic down will perfectly tackle this problem.

QUID PRO QUO

However, hydrophobic down has some cons that are often ignored by other manufacturers. In order to impregnate down and make it hydrophobic, it is first necessary to degrease it completely, thus depriving it of what provides its fill power under normal conditions. The compounds that are used help the down to regain its fill power, but this is not permanent . The life of hydrophobic down is about 6 cycles. It is still a lot, especially when compared with most synthetics, but natural down provides even more. You also have to take into account that it will decompress slower. These are the reasons why we did not introduce this type of filling into our offer until now. When developing our offer with hydrophobic down, we wanted everyone to be aware of its pros and cons.
