KAZBEK
RESCUE TEAM

BEZPIECZNY KAZBEK (“Safe Kazbek”) is an amazing initiative. A group of Polish mountain rescuers has created a project to ensure the safety of people near the Kazbek mountain. The project members faced the growing number of accidents in Kazbek, in which, unfortunately, Poles constituted the main group of victims. By dedicating their own time and by financing the project from private funds, they are on duty every year, helping hundreds of injured.

ORIGINS

In 2015, the Medyk Rescue Team was formed in order to search for a missing Polish woman. A year later the team came to Georgia to serve a regular emergency duty. That's how Safe Kazbek was created. Five rescuers in two small tents secured with stones, with both the Georgians and the expedition organizers being extremely suspicious. A few years have passed since then and now it is hard to imagine Kazbek without the rescue team - the two tents turned into a rescue center with an outpatient clinic and one of the best mountain rescue teams in the world.

ACTIONS

Safe Kazbek acts in three distinct ways. First, they prevent accidents. They try to prepare tourists for the threats that await on the way to the top, and that, unfortunately, often people are not aware of. Furthermore, they work on emergency duty. And finally they run an infirmary, which turned out to be a very important aspect of the rescuers activities. Outpatient activities account for 80% of their work. Every year, rescuers help almost 300 people, carry out several dozen medical evacuations and several rescue expeditions.

MEDICINE
AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL

Safe Kazbek is a unique initiative not only because the rescuers devote their time to save people near Kazbek, where mountain rescue is still in its infancy. The project includes specialized rescuers with very high medical skills. They pave new trails in rescue, e.g. by implementing ultrasound in mountain operations. This is extremely rare even in pre-hospital emergencies. They use oxygen cylinders made of composites that allow rescuers to move much faster. Together with Aura, they also created special sleeping bags for evacuation.

RESCUE
IN EXTREME CONDITIONS

Safe Kazbek is a team of people that train to work in the roughest of conditions. Rescuers are subjected to long and complex training sessions, the scale of which, and the focus to render real conditions is an absolute sensation on an international scale. Rescuers are also put into a state of hypothermia in a controlled environment so that they can get used to how their bodies and the body of the victim react to low temperatures.

THE ONLY ONE
IN THE WORLD

Together with Safe Kazbek, we have created two models of sleeping bags, specially designed for high-altitude rescue operations. Both are a set of complementary rescue sleeping bags. The inner sleeping bag has an anatomical structure and is the standard equipment for the first two rescuers that usually "go light". The second, heavy bag is designed specifically for the stretcher. Both sleeping bags allow easy access to the victim using special pockets without having to open the sleeping bag. They are also equipped with external regulation and a number of solutions to facilitate the performance of all rescue and medical activities. This is the first set of this type in the world!

X1

Our X1 technical jacket is the basic layer of the lifeguards' clothing. Project participants use it most of their time there, both during work at the base and while on rescue operations. Its ergonomic cut ensures full freedom of movement during operations while the hybrid structure and Climashield perfectly cope with changing weather on Kazbek.

TORRE

Torre is a jacket used during the most extreme conditions, that's why in the case of Safe Kazbek it is primarily a base jacket. It is the basis for comfort in the base when the weather breaks down or during field operations that involve low activity. It often happened that the jacked was used to help insulate the victim.
